Socializing, Super Bowl and Security...

Friday I had a parent/teacher conference for L.J.'s mid-year evaluation. She was pretty impressed with his letter recognition, phonics and math skills. He is also improving, yet still needs lots of work on writing and cutting. But the funny thing that she wants to see him improve on is socializing...really? My outgoing child that will talk to anyone in a grocery store isn't social? I guess around his peers he never wants to answer in front of everyone or volunteer that he knows the answer (except for that one day where he read the sentence to get candy). Oh well, I'm not too concerned about that since maybe the quiet kid won't get into so much trouble in elementary. For lunch we met everyone at Pappy's Grill and that night we went to eat at Ale House with mom and dad.

Saturday Jay worked for a while in the morning so L.J. and I went to the Smoke on the Water BBQ festival. He played in the kids area, we ate lunch and he danced along with the jazz band. Later that afternoon we met Jay out at Corey and Jenn's. We spent the afternoon there hanging out and had dinner there too.

Sunday we got up and made a trip over to chilly Hollywood Studios. It was way colder than we thought it would be, but also more crowded than we thought it would be. Our first part of the trip started with Jay having to check in his pocket knife at Disney security...fun times! We stayed for about 4 hours and rode a couple rides and saw a couple shows. We came back and started party hopping for the Super Bowl. We started at one of Hal's friend's houses where Corey and Jenn were and ended up at another party by the end of the night.

Monday was a normal day. We found out that L.J.'s valentine party was rescheduled to Wednesday instead of Friday so he wrote out all his class valentines in one day instead of how I had planned to spread it out over the week. He did really good though and wrote and signed 19 kids ones and 3 teachers ones. He normally never writes that much at one time.

Tuesday was a rainy day. I had a Juniors meeting so L.J. went to mom and dad's where Jay picked him up and ate dinner. At our meeting the Women's Club members had our dinner catered for us and a few of them came out to join us for some social time.

Today was L.J.'s valentine party. They decorated shoeboxes, passed out their valentines and ate a special lunch brought in by the parents.
