L.J.'s Pirate Bash

Ok, so the party went very well I think. L.J. was not much into blowing out the candles and ran from the pinata, but I think he had fun playing outside in the sandbox. I know all the other kids had fun playing upstairs and outside digging for gold. Other than the fact that it was extremely hot outside I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

The kids got to decorate pirate bandanas, rip open the pinata that would not break with the stick pony we were using as a bat and generally just ran around doing whatever they wanted. After we ate a yummy dinner of pork sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad, coleslaw, beans, corn and chips (mostly prepared by L.J.'s wonderful Gram and Daddy Dave), we had cake and then did the pinata. As soon as the pinata was torn into the thunder roared and the wind picked up. It was like a mad exit out the door grabbing goodie bags and beach balls on the way. Everyone that stayed quickly took down all the tents (potential lightning rods) and brought in everything from outside. We tried to get L.J. to be interested in opening the gifts. Since that was not going to happen, I opened them and then the kids played with them all.

We have one lucky little boy that is definitely spoiled by all of our generous and loving family and friends. Thank you to everyone who helped make his 2nd birthday a success.
