Keys and Lobster

Well this past week was a whirlwind of a time. Saturday Jay and I headed down to Big Pine Key to meet up with everyone else we were staying with. Sunday we went out to scout out some places to get lobster since the season didn't start until Monday. We had a good time just snorkeling around and swimming in the ocean.

Monday - 5:00am wake up call to be on the water before dawn. We went with Dawn and Lloyd to Content Key while Dad, Corey and Jody headed to some other places they knew of. Someone had already cleaned out the first rock we stopped at, but Lloyd managed to find a few lobster other places. Jay and I were really no help because neither one of us can clear our ears to be able to dive down deep enough using the air hoses. That afternoon Lloyd started feeling bad from the air so Dawn, Jody and I all went in with him. While he took a nap the three of us drove around the Keys looking for little gift shops. Until you get in to Key West there is nothing. That night we got to all feed the Key Deer (even though you're not supposed to). You could shake the Cheez-It box and they would come running. We were putting them in our mouths and the deer would take the Cheez-It right out of there like they were kissing us. Too cool!

Tuesday - Another early day. Jody, Dawn and I went with Dad on his boat and he dove 3 different times while we watched his little flag. Not super exciting, but he enjoys it. Once again, not too many lobster were found. It was a slow season this year. We did go over to an island that Mark found and I was able to get out and basically walk and snorkel to find them. I got 4 lobster, but only one of them was a keeper.

Tuesday night we headed down to Key West for my birthday. We went to Guy Harvey's Grill for dinner and then spent the rest of the night going from bar to bar on Duval St. My favorite was Irish Kevin's, even though my husband paid the singer to get me on stage for a shot. How embarrassing!

Wednesday - Jody, Dawn and I all went back down to Key West to shop. I got t-shirts for us and a little stuffed parrot from Margaritaville for L.J. After the rest of the guys came in from the water we headed to Christy's to pick up L.J. from my mom and then we came home.

Over the time we were gone, mom watched L.J. They went to Explorations Children's Museum, swim lessons, out to visit Nanny and swam alot in the pool.

Thursday Jay went to work and it was so slow that he decided to catch a ride with Mike and Lacy back down to the Keys that night and I went back to Christy's with L.J.

Friday we took all the boys to Kidz Zone in Ft. Myers. It's an indoor playplace. Then we went to lunch and back to Christy's for L.J.'s nap and then swimming.

Saturday L.J., mom and I came back and we went to eat that night at Texas Cattle Co with Dave, Janie, Jack and Greta. L.J. was actually really good at dinner.

Sunday we went to lunch at Dave and Janie's when Jay got back into town. We spent the rest of the day recovering from our busy week!
