Water Bug

Thursday I took L.J. down to Explorations for some air-conditioned fun. This is where we encountered the bully. There was this other little kid in there - 2 years old - that would not leave L.J. alone. There is one slide downstairs and every time L.J. would climb up to go on it, the other little boy would run ahead of him and go down first and then sit at the bottom so L.J. couldn't go down. Then it became a hitting incident because the little boy would start swatting at L.J. every time L.J. tried to go up the stairs. Now I understand 2, really, but I don't understand how the mom could just be over talking to some other lady and not be paying attention to him. When I finally started telling the little boy "That's not nice to hit", she heard me and came over and said "No, we don't do that." Then she looked at me and said "He plays very aggressively with his older sister" and she went back to her conversation while the child kept on with L.J. Finally I got L.J. interested in playing in the little kitchen, where he then encountered the big sister. She was a bossy little thing that kept picking L.J. up and taking him wherever she wanted him to be. She said "He's my son and I'll tell him what to do." When I looked at L.J. and said "Do you want to leave and get something to eat?" he jetted to the stairs and didn't make the slightest whimper about getting out of there. I really do understand that kids are kids, but parents should also be parents and try to take care of the situation if their child is being aggressive with other kids.

So Friday we went to Gymboree, this week was about trees and nature. They played hide and seek with little butterfly finger puppets, climbed up and picked apples (balls) off the tree, and jumped into the pile of leaves (parachute in an innertube). He actually did pretty well. That night we went out to Chili's with Dawn and Jody. L.J. was very good and just sat there and colored and then ate quite a bit, once we got him a little cup of "dippy" (ketchup). Then we went back to their house for a little bit where he attached himself to Kaleigh's stuffed dog wearing camo clothes.

Saturday after L.J. kept freaking out about the puppy getting into the backyard, we walked it down the street where I thought it might have come from. He was fine watching it through the window, but did not want to be outside with it. Then I took him over to Mom and Dad's to swim. He was jumping in and swimming all the way across the pool to me. That wore him out pretty good so he took a pretty long nap. Then that night him and Jay hung out at the house and ate pizza while I went to a book party at Sherry's. She sells Barefoot Books which are really very cool looking. I got him 3 books and a little number matching domino game.

Sunday Mom and Dad and L.J. and I did a little shopping looking for me a water bottle holder and waist pack for my walk. I found a small lightweight backpack that I am going to try instead of the waist pack. I just don't think I like having that around my waist. It is a little awkward for me. Hopefully the backpack won't be too hot on my back. I just have to try it and see what works best for me.

We went back to their house and L.J. went swimming with Dad and then attempted to take a nap, but that never happened. After Jay got done over at Corey's wiring his pool, he came over there and took L.J. swimming again. This time he was going off the steps in the shallow end and swimming all the way to the deep end. WOW! I think he's finally getting the hang of it. We ate dinner there and then L.J. went home and crashed. He was sooo worn out.
