Pumpkin Carving-not so easy

So yesterday we decided to carve the pumpkin (L.J. has been asking to do it since we bought it on Saturday). I get all the tools ready, decide on the web and spider design and get to work. L.J. wanted nothing to do with scooping out the insides after feeling them. So after I had the messy part all done he watched me use the little poker thing to trace the design. As soon as I started cutting I decided it was too much to tackle with a 3 year old who wanted instant results. Therefore we opted for a more traditional funny face "jacn lantern" as L.J. says.

He also spent yesterday talking about boys and girls. He has a weird fascination right now in making sure he labels everyone a boy or a girl. We go through the whole family and he tells me which one they are. Thankfully he understands and gets them right.

and here's some new layouts...

Wonderful layouts!

My kids never have the patience for those elaborate pumpkin carvings. We alwsy end up with a traditional look

Cute pics and you did a great job on the pumpkin! I think last year we just decorated with lots of little pumpkins rather than carving one - it seemed like too much work!

Great pumpkin! And I agree that it's much easier to go with a basic design when you have a little one who wants instant results... lol. And I loooove the layouts! What kit did you use for the second one? I just love cute little cup!
